The French have their ‘soup du jour’ and now Bostonians have their daily pop up treats from fried chicken to donuts and burgers to bagels. Here are a few “get here while they last” specials of the day.
Chef Stephanie Cmar will be popping up at Commonwealth Cambridge this weekend with her glossy sugar coated cylinders (aka doughnuts). For a while now, Tryst has been serving up AFC (Arlington Fried Chicken) on Tuesday nights $20 per box of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, gravy and biscuits (but you may have missed that boat – just confirming now with Tryst).
Sweet Cheeks Q mellows out on Monday nights at 9 and 10 p.m. with their ramen pop up. $15 will get you a tonkotsu-style ramen bowl. $25 will get you the works with fried shishito peppers, Japanese pickles and your choice of light or dark beer.
To continue the Asian comfort food theme you can do a double on Monday nights and head to Sycamore in Newton for their ramen night that goes form 9 to 11 p.m. and has ramen as well as an à la carte treats such as fiery Korean rice cakes, pork belly bao with gochujong and pickled cucumber; Taiwanese green curry mussels with boiled peanuts and ham musubi.
Grass Fed Fridays at Moody’s Deli in Waltham. This hidden gem of a deli will have a limited number of burgers being served Friday at lunch while supplies last.
Starting March 30th and on select Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. enjoy Pop Ramen at Yume Wo Katare. Pop Ramen is a vegetarian miso ramen. A great treat for vegetarians but hey vegetables are for everyone! If you can’t do ramen without it, meat will still be available as a topping. Pop Ramen’s bowls are $10, plus $1 for meat topping. Ticketed reservation only. Quantities extremely limited (54 bowls). Tickets are available during normal business hours at Yume Wo Katare.
