Long before kids and when our budget for dining out was minimal Dan and I went to our first Super Hunger Brunch. We walked up from our apartment on Chauncy Street in Cambridge to a restaurant that we had once been to for dinner and really enjoyed: The Elephant Walk. We were intrigued by the Elephant Walk’s French and Cambodian menu (not fusion but two separate menus) and fell in love with this unique little restaurant.
Super Hunger Brunch at Elephant Walk
I remember getting a basket of freshly baked mini pastries and sitting by the window. I don’t have the best memory (classic mom-brain syndrome) but special moments like that are as clear as crystal. I can almost still smell the pastries, and remember the morning sun through the window. It wasn’t just the food and the setting, but the energy in the room for the Greater Boston Food Bank’s Super Hunger Brunch is something really special. Everyone working at the restaurant is giving their time to a cause that none of us can afford to ignore.

The Super Hunger Brunch takes place this year on Saturday, January 27th and Sunday January 28th. That’s this weekend. The brunch is either $35 or $25 and that’s a donation to the Greater Boston Food Bank and every dollar spent provides three healthy meals to a local resident in need. I like an element of surprise, but not everyone does. On the Greater Boston Food Bank websites you can see some of the Super Hunger Brunch menus here. Not every restaurant is able to provide a menu in advance, but if you have questions I would say just give the restaurant a call and hopefully they can give you some guidance.

I’m not from your area but sounds like a wonderful thing these eating places are putting on.
What a wonderful way to help out the community, not to mention yummy! Drooling over that hanger steak photo.
How great is that? I love when a community can help each other like this. AND have delicious food. I mean, that pic? I know what I’m doing when I visit Boston in April.
If you want any ideas for what to do and where to eat or drink in April let me know! Always happy to help.
First that food looks delicious. I lovecthst You’re helping the less fortunate.
