They say the home is where the heart is and these days home is the heart of everything. Our homes are our offices, schools, dance studios, fitness centers, restaurants and more. It has not been an easy transition, but being home has been a shift in our non-stop on-the-go lives. Here are a few gifts that celebrate our home spaces.
Plan ahead for spring with Acton Food Forest: Edible Gardening Design. Growing an edible garden not only feeds your body, but also calms the mind and nourishes the soul.
All our gatherings this year through sun and snow have been and will remain outside. We will have hot cocoa with friends around the fire pit. Even cocktail hour with my girlfriends will be outside in the wintry backyard. The best vessel for just about anything outside is a Mason jar. The jars are portable and sturdy. I love dressing them up with these MasonRe koozies not only because they’re cute but they serve a function. They keep your hands from getting too cold with a nicely iced cocktail and protect your hands from anything too hot as well.
I love a good felt pennant. They are a soft colourful addition to a play room, tv den, or bedroom. For 2020, I’m all about the reminder that We Can Do Hard Things from Your Moment Made.
Art doesn’t have to fill a whole wall. Lately, I love collecting little art pieces not only because they are more affordable, but I like to cluster them and find small spots in the home to add a little touch of art. These wampum collages, by Wampum Moon have a softness and evoke a sense of simplicity and coziness.
Craft Kits or workshops from Create and Escape are a great way to make something customized for your home. In-studio workshops are available in their Peabody studio, but if you prefer to stay home, you can choose a project take home kit instead.
I have declared this the year of the picnic. We have had fall picnics so we can meet up with families outside after a walk among the leaves. We have had coffee and lunch picnics in the backyard and will continue to do so all winter if we can. You don’t even have to leave the house to enjoy these picnic cheese knives from Elle in the Weeds.
As the weather gets colder and the days get darker, I like to spice things up at home by adding a little extra light with candles and a little extra cozy with scents. Sometimes the scent of a candle can be a bit much, so I prefer to simmer something on the stove. These Stove Top Simmer Potpourris from Unwrapped Gifting are adorable and filled with wonderful aromas. I will have to buy twice as many because I know I’ll be holding onto a few for myself.
I’m all about succulents and air plants lately. I love perusing Foraged Decor’s Etsy shop for unique touches for the home. These seashell and succulent ornaments have me dreaming of summer days at the beach.
Not everyone has a green thumb so faux succulents in ornaments is a great idea. If you are not a plastic faux flower kind of person then there are these adorable knitted cacti from B-Buckled (see slideshow above).
Backstitch Handmade’s ornaments have a beautiful retro vibe. They are wooden and coated with a naturally dyed lacquer. Backstitch Handmade ornaments have a simplicity and refinement that is unique and nostalgic as well.
For the most part we are all having lunch at home at the “home office” and the “home school” but for the sake of the dishwasher and meal planner in the home, these lunch boxes from O Yaki are so cute and functional. I think everyone will be getting one this year for the holidays.
I have ruined too many tops with oil splatters and baking messes. These cute aprons from Chez New Chez Vous will fix that. Get one for all your family chefs and sous chefs.
