February in Boston these days can be anything from early spring thaw to a polar deep freeze. For those if us who spend most of vacation week in Boston and surrounding areas here are some activities to do regardless of the weather. Kids ages 3-8 are invited to the Boston Public Library central branch in Copley for Play Songs and Games as we explore Afro-American and Caribbean songs and games with Castle of our Skins, a Black arts institution dedicated to fostering cultural curiosity. - Any Day
If you want a museum that’s just right for the little ones, and has the bonus of a long “nap drive” home, then head to The Discovery Center in Acton. It’s one of our favourite science museums for the littelest tots to the end of elementary age. - February 17th through March 12th
Wheelock Family Theatre is presenting Make Way for Ducklings, the musical. Get your child ready for a lifetime love of music and theater starting right in your own backyard. Tickets are available here. - Opens February 23rd and runs through May
- Immersive Disney in Boston is a perfect way to spend part of the day with your Disney loving child (or adult child at heart for that matter). Visitors are transported into the world of the Disney Animation Studios’ following a pixie dust ‘wish trail’ through the galleries, where they encounter rarely seen exhibits from Walt Disney Animation Research Library, including a series of animator’s character sketches. Additional interactive features include responsive projection design that moves with the audience and custom bracelets that light up in sync with the projections and based on the audiences’ movements through the galleries.

How is origami used in space? Find out at the MIT Museum in a hands-on workshop making pop-up cards. Put your creative skills to the test and work with family and friends to explore geometry, spatial reasoning, and aerospace engineering. This workshop is designed for families and friends working in small groups. Children must be age 9 and above with at least one adult. Gather a few friends and head to Boda Borg for a day of adventures. This is something the kids can do while you get some work done upstairs in the lobby or you can enjoy it as a family. Boda Borg is best with at least three or four people total per group.

Ladies climbing night for female identifying and non-binary climbers at Metro Rock in Harvard Squarehttps://centralrockgym.com/harvard-square/. Free for members and $20 for non-members (includes gear) This meet-up is low key. There are not any structured plans in place for this event other than providing a welcoming and inclusive space to climb. This is a great event for those looking to climb for the first time or for those who are looking to make new climbing friends. This event is geared towards adults and older teenagers 14+. - Any day
Head over to Tutuland and make your own rug to bring to your college dorm or decorate your room at home. - The Art of the Brick is part art exhibit, part interactive space and all Lego fan dreamland. Worth a trip for just the adults or the whole family.

Frankenstein presented by ArtsEmerson. Love, loss, and creation merge in unexpected ways in this thrilling version of the classic Gothic tale, Frankenstein. Using more than 500 handmade puppets, old school projectors, as well as live actors and cinematic elements, Emmy-award winning troupe Manual Cinema returns to ArtsEmerson (Ada/Ava, The End of TV) to share its explosive, layered interpretation of the classic horror novel, Frankenstein.
