With a line spanning nearly 3 blocks, it is not surprising that Ricky Montgomery’s sold-out show in Boston was an enthralling, powerful, and emotional performance for all in attendance. Alternative pop artist Ricky Montgomery, accompanied by Noah Floersch, delivered an amazing show at the Royale in Boston earlier this month playing his recent sophomore album Rick.

Seven years after his debut album, Montgomery Ricky, Montgomery’s new album is full of alt-rock-pop hits that had fans old and new jumping up and down and singing every line with him throughout the show. The connection between Ricky and the crowd was like nothing I have ever seen. His beautiful music touching the hearts of the entire audience. From fast-paced pop songs to emotional love songs, Ricky Montgomery found a way to reach everyone from the front row fans to the head over heels devotees on the balcony singing no fewer words than those on the rail.

The concert kicked off with Line Without a Hook a 2016 song that was re-released in 2021 as a collaboration with indie pop artist mxmtoon. Love songs in all their stages and ages are the backbone of so many set-lists maybe because it is complex and yet relatable on so many levels. Closing out the show, as part of the encore was Mr. Loverman sung in stereo with the entire audience. Montgomery’s tour continues to traverse the US from east to west coast and then flies over to Europe with a final stop in Singapore supported by Noah Floersch in the US, Roe Kapara in the UK and Europe, and Hongjoin (who has a little Boston connection) in Singapore.
