Comedian Jake Shane took the stage at MGM Music Hall for his “Live with Jake Shane” show on Sunday night. What unfolded over the next 90 minutes was part comedic therapy session and part concert. Shane led with heartfelt honesty, musical performances, and no shortage of self deprecating humor.

Jake Shane’s comedy is rooted in radical forthrightness. The show felt like a walk through Shane’s inner monologue. Comedic bits included reflections on his younger, cringier days and reading out actual emails he sent as a child. Jake Shane has turned oversharing into an art form.

Connor Wood opened the night with charismatic energy. Wood warmed up the crowd with his quick wit and juvenile humor.

Surprise appearances from Robyn Delmonte and Brett Chody added an extra layer of entertainment, as audience members told them what was wrong in their lives.

Jake closed the night on a high note. Literally, I think it was a high c (jk), by breaking into song. His virally hilarious “JetBlue” and the delightfully absurd “Denim on Denim” had the entire crowd singing along, a perfect ending for a show that never once took itself too seriously.

“Live with Jake Shane” isn’t just a comedy show, it’s a self-roast, a group therapy session, and a concert all rolled into one.
