You crack open a Shakespeare play and expect that sing song cadence that transports you back in time to some sort of ancient world with princes and jesters, dukes and dames. Measure for Measure at the Emerson Cutler Majestic is nothing you expect of Shakespeare. Well almost nothing. I was …

By Leah Klein October 8, 2018 October 8, 2018 0

I bought myself a membership at the MFA last year and visiting is my own special kind of therapy. I love my MFA days. The membership comes with passes so I can bring the family once a year and that’s all they usually are interested in. I can also spend …

Hamnet not Hamlet: Ireland’s Dead Centre in Boston

Hamnet not Hamlet: Ireland’s Dead Centre in Boston

By Leah Klein September 25, 2018 September 26, 2018 0

I knew that Dead Centre’s production of Hamnet (no that’s not a typo) would get me thinking since that is what art does. Who would have thought that a performance about Shakespeare’s only son would have me thinking about sitting on the couch as my grandfather watched his television screen …

Taxi! Uber, Lyft, Metro or Bus: Travel Tip

By Leah Klein September 20, 2018 September 22, 2018 0

I have never done one of those “hop on hop off” bus tours. They seem like a great idea but the places I want to go, see and experience are not always the classic spots. My favourite way to travel is like the locals do. I prefer to do a …

Life Lately: Emergen-C, Religion, Art Out There

By Leah Klein September 11, 2018 September 12, 2018 0

This is linger over a glass of wine kind of weathe This is linger over a glass of wine kind of weather. Dan and I had a fab time doing just that last night at Spoke Wine Bar. Now I’m craving all the things: the cranberry fresno glazy saucy thing on the fried parsnip cake, the hint of bergamot in the aioli with the quince glazed sausage skewers, the fresh scallop crudo paired with rich AF beef cheeks, the somehow buttery soy sauce in the clams with persimmon, and the creamy tagine bean dip. I could go back again tonight and have it all again- and so much more of the menu that we didn’t try because we kept this meal dairy free for Dan.
