Last week I hit The Sinclair (where I caught Boys Go To Jupiter’s kick off of their Now You’re a Circle tour), The Red Room Café (where I’m looking forward to seeing Brigitte Calls Me Baby) and The Middle East (where I hope to catch Borderline). When I’m in a venue, partially because I like a wide range of music, I look around and think, wow this room full of people thrashing around to heavy metal tonight will be a room full of a whole new crowd and sound tomorrow. There is a weird kind of magic to me that these venues hold varying sized groups of music lovers that change dramatically day to day.
Roadrunner
Roadrunner is one of Boston’s newer venues located at Boston Landing in Brighton. There are plenty of places to dine out before the show from grabbing a snack at Stop & Shop to a swanky steak dinner at The Stockyard which has been around for a coon’s age or newly opened The Pearl. If beer is your thing, then go as close as you can at Broken Records Beer Hall where you can see the line grow as you sip your beer, head to nearby Notch Brewing for beer inside or al fresco to soak in some vitamin D before heading into the show or find your way to Widowmaker Brewing. If you want a variety of pre-show options, like a coffee, tea or matcha at Linger, Pizza at Pizza Project (one of the best around) , Sake atKoji Club, and beer and Notch then stop at nearby Charles River Speedway before the show.
Wednesday,
Gouge Away on Wednesday, April 1st 2026
You probably know Wednesday from Elderberry Wine, which is over-played imho because there are so many other great songs. I am looking forward to this show for both Gouge Away, who I first saw at Something In the Way Festival, and for Wednesday of course!
Good Kid,
INOHA on Thursday, April 16th 2026
This is a band that my child got me into. We have different music tastes but intersect on many bands. One thing we share, is a respect for good lyrics, songs that tap into life’s emotions in a quirky, playful or just plain honest way. A band that gets even the young (as in 20-30 somethings) jumping, or at very least bopping their heads, and at most thrashing some bangs around is a a bonus too. I’m unfamiliar with INOHA but I hope to catch the show and see what their all about too.
NB: The Snarky Puppy show scheduled for Roadrunner on April 15th has been cancelled.
The Last Dinner Party,
Florence Road on Saturday, April 18th 2026
Absolutely no disrespect to The Last Dinner Party, but I bought tickets because I wanted to catch Florence Road. I didn’t know the Last Dinner Party aside from Nothing Matters, but every time I went to listen to Florence Road, Spotify, would add in songs from The Last Dinner Party. I didn’t understand why every time I listed to Florence Road, I ended up with songs from The Last Dinner Party. Now it all makes a little more sense, and I’m excited for both. The show is sold out with only resale tickets available now, so just because I didn’t know The Last Dinner Party well doesn’t mean anything.
LCD Soundsystem
EXEK
They’re having a mini residency with shows April 30th, May 1st, May 2nd, and May 3rd 2026
After a hiatus in 2019-2021, and a brief rained out night scheduled at Re:Set in 2023 which ended up becoming a last minute surprise midnight wild ride of a set at The Sinclair, LCD Sound System is back in town. Their new way of touring is to set up shop for mini residencies rather than the frenetic classic way of touring city by city day by day. LCD Soundsystem has a large dedicated following and each night is sure to be one hell of a party to their music which can be best encapsulated as “the point of a Venn diagram where the loose grooves of disco bump up against the wiry spikiness of post-punk” (Andy Kellman + Tim Sendra). There is always a beat dropping and a guitar’s groove that will pick you up and carry you off like a crowd surfing pro.

Warehouse XI
I have been to Warehouse XI a couple of times. Most recently, I caught Toronto band moondoggy for their first show in Boston. Warehouse XI is a chill intimate space in Union Square where your next favourite band will be playing eye to eye with you.
Townies
Louzy, FFO Chillin’, Subpunch, Saturday, May 30th 2026
Keep an eye out on the Warehouse XI Instagram feed for upcoming shows.

Arts At The Armory
Arts At The Armory has been putting on many more shows lately. I was lucky enough to catch Rufus Wainwright here (and since there is only one venue in the area that I refuse to go to and this was one of the few times Wainwright was not performing there I was so happy!). It was also a great venue to catch comedian Sarah Keyworth. I’m looking forward to the Perfume Genius performance here in April as well. The Arts at the Armory really is a great addition to the local music venue scene. It can hold quite a crowd but still feels quite intimate.
Perfume Genius (Duo)
Dan English Sunday, April 5th 2026 (Sold Out)
I am a huge fan of all ten of Perfume Genius’ albums and the various sounds each album offers over the decades. I have been looking forward to this show ever since it was announced and I think the intimate feel of The Armory will be a perfect fit for this tour.
Gaia Collective, One Day Choir Singing Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need”
Wednesday, April 8th 2026
I haven’t had an evening with Gaia Collective, but have had the sheer joy of a night with Choir Choir Choir! and there is something so therapeutic and fun about singing with a bunch of strangers. You will leave feeling better about just about everything. Plus, who doesn’t love a little Olivia Dean moment?
Sir Chloe
Wednesday, April 15th 2026 (Sold Out)
Indie Rocker Sir Chloe will be taking to the stage to a sold out crowd at Arts at The Armory. Clearly this is a venue to be paying attention to not just for their variety of pub sing nights, Ukulele club, and Tunefoolery Coffeehouse in the café and Country Western Dance Hall shindigs at Northbound Country Night
Rufus Wainwright
Friday, April 17th 2026 (Sold Out)
This show sells out fast, but it seems that Rufus Wainwright is also a fan of Arts at The Armory, so hopefully he’ll be back here again soon. Keep an eye out for last minute tickets and get yourself on the Arts at The Armory mailing list so you don’t miss out next time.
Grace Kelly
Saturday, May 9th 2026
If you love the Saxophone, don’t miss Grace Kelly as part of the Spotlight Series.
