There is nothing like starting a new series on Monday for Mondays. Mondays are days that makes you feel weird and off-kilter especially if you work a Monday through Friday job. The good thing about Mondays is that emails tend to be slow because everyone is still rubbing the weekend out of their eyes and waiting for the coffee to kick in. It is a good day to focus on things that can set you up for a productive week rather than react to what everyone else is tossing at you from all platforms. If you take Monday as a tiptoe into the week instead of a deep plunge pushed into the icy dark depths by capitalism then you can turn it into a more digestible day. On my part, I’m going to try to aid that by sharing some music marginalia as a little Monday treat that you can nibble on or chomp ravenously as you choose.

New Music To Listen To
Lately, I have been in a place where I am trying to be more accepting of myself and who I am. It is a tricky space somewhere between wanting to be better and do better but also not erasing who I am. You’d think by this point in my life I would be better at that, but it isn’t something that comes naturally to me. In fact, my instinct is the polar opposite. I’m slowly learning to give myself the space I need, the self-respect I am allowed and don’t have to ask for repeatedly, and the boundaries that are painful to set but necessary. On that general theme, here are some new releases to check out.
- Laufey’s new song How I Get -2/25/2026 -taps into that a little bit in the context of self vs. self in love.
- Sammy Rae & the Friends Whatever We Feel (Sun Version) -2/27/2026– is the perfect song to put on and strut around the house owning who you are.
- Amelia Day’s Love Me Love Me Not -2/27/2026 is just an overall banger and whoever you’re singing “tell me that you love me” to even if it is yourself, it is worth a dance party sing-a-long or two.
- Donovan Woods’ These Things Happen -2/27/2026 reminds you that life is too short, which is the perfect push to get out of your own way.
- Perfume Genius’ Jamie -2/27/2026 is about the things we cannot hold together no matter how much we want to or how hard we try. It is heartbreaking and freeing in the least cathartic way, but just having someone put it into words is extremely helpful. (excuse my while I go cry it out a minute and play this just a few more times)
- Naika’s Welcome to Eclesia -2/16/2026 has me throwing my hands up and dancing around the kitchen.
- Charlotte Day Wilson’s Quiet -2/6/2026 is all about that voice that gets silenced.
- And if you need an anthem to remember how good it feels just to be alive,
Melissa Etheridge’s Bein’ Alive -2/13/2026 reminds you in no uncertain terms that somehow it’s all good because you’re alive.

Throwback Song of the Day
I spent part of my afternoon listening to the first Perfume Genius albums and something about them made me think of Annie Lennox. So, for the throwback song of the day, since it is very very cold today, I’m giving you Cold which was released April 2 1992 on Annie Lennox’s debut solo album Diva.
