Dirty, Fresh, Summer

Today was a perfect summer (almost summer) morning. I worked at our farm share/CSA farm because part of membership is that every adult works 4hrs. each season. The weather is cool and the earth is soft and damp after yesterday’s storm.

I harvested garlic scapes and green onions (aka scallions) and my hands have the sweet scent of an allium perfume. I’ve got plenty if dirt between my toes and I helped bag spinach and lay out escarole for today’s afternoon pick up.

I can’t wait to get back up to Lindentree Farm this week. I am already planning a menu for when I pick up our share on Thursday. There are beets and I just have to try my hand at Sofra’s Beet tzatziki. I think I ‘ll make this shrimp and escarole salad with the escarole.
